CT-N’s Weekend Debate Marathon and
LIVE Election Night Telecast
Hartford, CT – This year’s election season has been tumultuous as candidates have filled the airwaves with advertisements, claims, counterclaims and the reasons they think we should vote for them. To really make sense of the political landscape before November 2nd, viewers can count on the Connecticut Network for complete, balanced and in-depth coverage of the candidates and the races entering the final weekend of Campaign 2010.
“Every election is extremely important for the future of our state and this election’s results will, as always, have an impact on every single resident in Connecticut,” said Bill Bevacqua, network Director of Communications. “It’s vital for voters to be informed and here at CT-N, we’re proud to be the ones to bring the critical information into homes across the state.”
Connecticut Network’s coverage of Campaign 2010 kicks into overdrive on Friday, October 29 when the network’s traditional Debate Marathon weekend begins. Debates and candidate forums covered by CT-N throughout the general election season will air continuously from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening (CT-N’s Capitol Report and rebroadcasts of the local network affiliates’ public affairs shows will return to their regularly-scheduled time slots the following weekend). Scheduled debates and forums include those for U.S. Senate, governor, attorney general, comptroller, secretary of the state and congressional candidates. CT-N is the only station offering coverage of the under-ticket in this year’s election. In addition to debates, the marathon will also include all of the Hartford Courant Editorial Board Interviews with candidates in the statewide and congressional races.
Live Election Night coverage hosted by CT-N Elections Coordinator Diane Smith begins at 7 p.m. on November 2, providing complete coverage of election results from across the state – in partnership with the Connecticut Mirror – all evening long. Planned coverage for the evening will combine updates from the field – including acceptance and concession speeches – with in-studio discussions and Associated Press election returns. Scheduled in-studio guests include current Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz, former Speaker of the House Jim Amann, Connecticut Republican Party Chair Chris Healy, Connecticut Democratic Party Chair Nancy DiNardo and a host of other experts on Connecticut elections.
Coverage will be simulcast live on WICC-600 AM. Debates and other coverage of Campaign 2010 can viewed On-Demand anytime by visiting www.ct-n.com.
